In February of 2020, I was driving up Mount Norquay when I got a message from Sophie telling me that she wanted to book me for a winter elopement in the famous Canadian mountain town, Banff. Located in the province of Alberta, this stunning, wild location is a popular one for couples who want to marry at elevation, overlooking one of the many, truly-out-of-this-world glacier lakes this area boasts. We spent a couple of days together, exploring the mountains, laughing together, and treating ourselves at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel.
I’ve been to a lot of places in the world, I’ve experienced so many incredible trips by myself and with clients but Banff is one of those places I will always have an emotional connection to. It doesn’t matter how many times I travel the distance between home and Banff, the mountains will always make me cry.
This trip has been such a long time coming and after 4 times of having no choice but to reschedule, we finally made it and this winter elopement was beyond anything I could have ever expected.
From the texts from Sophie saying “What do we do?” to “Is this finally happening?” To us meeting at the bar the first night and hugging while we screamed “WE’RE HERE, we’re actually here.”
My heart is so, so full.
