My biggest motto is that you never stop learning and growing in life. This perspective applies to the photography and wedding industry, too. We are all still learning how to be the best versions of ourselves as artists and service providers - and that never stops, no matter how much experience you have. Learning from each other and sharing perspectives is an incredible resource that often gets disrupted by ego. Not here.

I absolutely love hosting workshops and retreats for creatives where we can talk about client experiences, improve our skills, and create together in a warm, supportive, and community-focused space.

I’m over the unnecessary stuffiness, competition, and gatekeeping.

Workshops are a 1-day exploratory and educational affair! We dedicate 3-4 hours to technical and “traditional” learning, and then shoot with models for 2 hours to practice, experiment and portfolio expand.

WORKSHOPS

Starting at $350

Typically taking place over a few days, and involving multiple styled shoots “on location” - retreats prioritize learning from each other and relationship building with other attendees.

RETREATS

Starting at $1300

Wedding industry colleagues turned besties in creative entrepreneurship: meet your retreat hosts!

Frankie Wallace (the beautiful British lady on the right) and I have known each other since 2020. She’s an incredibly talented videographer - and I feel lucky whenever we shoot weddings together locally or abroad. (Who wouldn’t want to travel the world with one of their favourite humans?!) Our differences complement each other so well personally and professionally, and in 2024 - we founded “For the Love of Art” retreats to help others grow and find community. We host overnight, small group retreats across Atlantic Canada, with plans to go “international” very soon!

FOR THE LOVE OF ART RETREATS

After attending my first retreat in Ireland, I noticed how revitalized, artistic, and inspired I felt upon returning home. Of course, Ireland was beautiful - but I really believe that it was the community I had spent days collaborating and experimenting with that had nourished my passion for photography. This is the beauty and benefit of a content retreat: a collective of other creatives to connect and learn from, and the space to try out new or challenging techniques you wouldn’t necessarily bust out for a paying client.

Our upcoming retreat in exceptionally cute St. Andrews (by-the-sea) will give you the opportunity to intentionally expand your portfolio in some of the most sought after wedding locations in Atlantic Canada. Together, we’ll embrace the coastal charm - and shoot our hearts out over three creatively fulfilling days.

CONTENT RETREAT: June 10-12th, 2024
Saint Andrews, New Brunswick

FOR THE LOVE OF ART RETREATS: June 10-12th, 2024

A content retreat hosted by me and Frankie means getting access to some of the coolest styled shoots around (more on that later), but it’s also important that our schedule is designed to support relaxing, enjoying the company of other creatives, and evening hangs. This means sourcing a “home base” that can support the vibes we’re after.

For our St. Andrews content retreat on June 10-12th, 2024, your spot includes:

YOUR RETREAT TICKET INCLUDES:

  • Two nights in the stunning Tidal Treasure Estate
  • Continental breakfast and lunch for two days
  • Four stunning styled sessions to build your portfolio
  • Shared room with your own bed
  • Opt in to share a bed (with a friend or partner) and save an additional $100 on your ticket.

Styled sessions can have an incredible impact on your portfolio, your confidence as an artist, and the type of clients you attract. When organizing our retreats, we meticulously plan styled concepts that we would be excited to feature on our own portfolios - and strategically select settings that will encourage you to build on your existing skill set.

Over three beautiful days in St. Andrews, you’ll have the opportunity to shoot four unique styled sessions. With three wedding sessions, and one engagement session - each different in their own way - you’ll have the chance to experiment, pose, and capture full galleries for your portfolio and socials. All of our models are real-life couples (none of that pretend PDA), and two of them are part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Representation and inclusivity in the wedding industry is important to us!

OUR STYLED SESSIONS:

  • Tidal Treasure Estate
  • The Algonquin Hotel
  • Late Night Pool Dip
  • Kingsbrae Gardens

FOR THE LOVE OF ART RETREATS: June 10-12th, 2024

Investing in yourself and your craft is key to growing as a creative entrepreneur and artist. We believe in supporting other women in art, small businesses and local vendors whenever possible. The pricing of our retreats allows us to pay ourselves, our incredible vendors, and our models for their awesome contributions to this creative experience.

YOUR INVESTMENT:

* Book before March 7th, and receive $100 off. Save an additional $100 when opting to bed-share.

Questions? Find your answer here!

I’m an experienced photographer, are your workshops or retreats still for me?

100%. I have over ten years in this industry, and I still attend at least two educational workshops or retreats per year. Sometimes more! With this in mind, I always ensure that my educational events are well-suited to folks who are just starting out, but beneficial to those who maybe feel like they’ve seen it all. If you have questions about workshop content or the structure of a retreat because you’re concerned it may not be a good fit for your skill level - please don’t hesitate to send me an email!

Are the retreats just for people who identify as women?

Our retreats are designed for everyone, regardless of gender or identity. You and your full identity will be welcomed with open arms at any of my retreats or workshops. Discriminatory behaviour or language is not tolerated and will result in being removed from the event without a refund, and black-listed from taking part in future educational opportunities.

Can you attend the retreats if you’re not a photographer?

Yes! In fact, it’s encouraged. We’ve loved hosting videographers, content creators, folks who shoot exclusively on film - and we welcome anyone who feels like participating in a content retreat would be a fun and beneficial experience for them!

I’m a vendor interested in collaborating for a retreat! How do I reach out?

Ooh, exciting! We are always looking for new vendors to team up with. Please send me an email or a message on Instagram with your location, offering, and details about what you have in mind.
