Ready to say i do?
book your wedding date
These days, there are so many ways to plan a wedding. You could go big, small, local, or international - I’ve seen (and documented) it all. No matter what your wedding looks like, you can trust that I’m going to be there to support the process of getting you down the aisle. I offer planning guidance, one-on-one meetings to mitigate stress, and help design a wedding day timeline that will prioritize what you care about most.
The surprise rainbow in Iceland.
During my first elopement in Iceland (I’ve been back many times since), we were taking bride and groom portraits at one of the country’s biggest and most famous waterfalls. They were snuggling up together, and I remember looking through my lens and seeing the bride’s face lit up. She melted into her husband’s arms. I looked behind me to see that a rainbow had developed, like nature was saying “you are exactly where you need to be”.
A sunrise ceremony in Venice, Italy.
My clients dreamed of being “the only ones in the world” during their Italian nuptials, and being in Venice, I advised them to have their ceremony at sunrise. I helped the bride get ready at 3am, and we ventured out into the city as the sun rose. The rest of the world was still sleeping while they embarked on one of life’s biggest adventures. It was such a beautiful and memorable morning.
Golden hour field makeouts.
I will always do everything in my power to prioritize my clients “must have’s” - this gorgeous couple dreamed of sneaking out for sunset photos while their guests enjoyed the reception. After dinner and feeling a little tipsy - I captured them having the most fun playing in the grass, chasing each other, making out and enjoying the first moments of being “alone” as a married couple.
I like to take the time to know my clients so I can better document their love stories. By knowing how you met, your favourite date spots, and the little details that make your relationship special - I notice and capture the small moments of magic that are uniquely yours.
My work isn’t all done with the camera either. On your wedding day, I’ll be there to help you into your dress (I’m a pro at those tiny buttons), or making the time for you to have a breather before walking down the aisle. I’ll keep us on time without rushing, and stay up late to ensure you have sneak peeks of your wedding photos within 24-48 hours of saying “I do”.
It’s really as simple (and beautiful) as that. I care deeply about ensuring that anyone in front of my camera feels comfortable, safe, and appreciated regardless of gender, sexuality, race, or body size.
The love between two people and the love someone holds for themselves deserves to be celebrated and documented in a way that empowers them. This belief motivates me every time I take my camera out. I proudly work with LGBTQIA+ couples and individuals - and will happily modify our sessions to accommodate accessibility needs.

Adventure, love, and travel are big themes in my life: I met my husband at a wedding I was shooting. He was the dashing best man, and my clients thought we’d hit it off: our first date was a trip to Thailand, and six years later we eloped in Switzerland! I aim to visit 30 countries before my 30th birthday and with 25 countries stamped in my passport - international travel is a huge part of my business and how I spend my time off.
My dad used to host a dating radio show, and my name is a creative twist (thanks mom!) on my dad's radio name 'Charlie'. My youthful rebellion was a secret tattoo I got at 17, done stealthily on someone’s kitchen table, and poorly healed: discovered by my parents when I needed emergency surgery. I’ve always had a knack for business - and auditioned for Canada’s Got Talent at 13 because my dad’s friend promised me $100 for having the guts to sing for a panel of judges.

I’ve been working as a professional photographer for over ten years, but I remember how challenging it was when I first started out. I moved to a new city with big dreams, hoping to find industry friends, a mentor, or someone who could help show me the ropes. I reached out to dozens of photographers, and only one person was open to helping a newbie. I promised myself then to always be “that person”: I love helping other creatives find their footing in the industry, and often host workshops and retreats to help junior photographers build their skill set and portfolio.

A memory I won’t forget:
Renelle and Justin had one of the most intentional and beautiful wedding days I’ve captured. Each choice they made for their wedding day was backed by their simple desire to just be together on their wedding day. Emotions were flowing big time, and I even cried a few times.
It rained the entire day, but Renelle and Justin didn’t mind. They embraced the weather and we ended up doing their formal bride and groom photos in the pouring rain. It came down so hard that eventually they just ditched their umbrella and danced in the rain together. We had so much fun!

A memory I won’t forget:
This elopement was a surprise to everyone, including the couple. What was supposed to be a styled shoot, turned into a “official” ceremony at The Greenhouse thanks to Sarah from East Coast Pop Up Weddings and a marriage license that was obtained from Access Nova Scotia that morning.
Madeline and Mitchell wrote handwritten vows on vintage postcards the night before their shoot-turned-elopement. We all laughed and cried as they read them out loud. They were so heartfelt, and were the perfect encapsulation of their relationship and the spontaneity of the day.

A memory I won’t forget:
When they jumped into the ocean, so did I! I was about four feet in the water, when a HUGE wave hit me - knocking me over. I kept my camera above water, but not my head! I was soaked head to toe, but laughed the entire time and got incredible photos too.
Cuba was so hot during the week of Tania & Patrick’s celebrations. Their beach ceremony was attended by their closest friends and family, and mother nature decided to gift them a nice breeze during their celebration. After saying “I do” - they jumped into the ocean in their wedding outfits!

“There are not enough words to describe Sharlie as a photographer. Saying that she is absolutely incredible is not enough: someone needs to invent a word that can accurately describe the experience she offers. My fiancé and I had the pleasure to work with her for our engagement session and our wedding. She goes above and beyond, and on our wedding day she felt like part of our family and friends. My personal opinion: it’s a mistake NOT to hire her as your photographer! I am personally someone that struggles with my personal body image and knowing that she is a HUGE advocate for all body types and body acceptance made my choice even easier when looking around for photographers. Just do it - book her, you won’t regret it!”
“ We have nothing but praise for Sharlie. We have worked with her three times to date and have had nothing but great experiences. For a couple that is a little bit camera shy, she made us feel at ease and comfortable, and we had so much fun alongside her. She felt like an ally in the absolutely crazy wedding planning process during the pandemic and was such a great resource for recommending vendors for our wedding and helping us get our timeline sorted out as well. She is far more than a photographer, she easily blends in to become a family member and a friend during the important moments of your lives that she captures. She is talented, kind-hearted and so much fun - she is everything you could dream of in a photographer and more.”
“Sharlie took our engagement photos and our wedding photos. She was amazing to work with, and goes above and beyond. She was not just my photographer on my wedding day, she was also my fairy god mother. She fixed my veil, brought us drinks, she even helped dry off the ceremony chairs after it had rained. Not only is she an amazing person but her photos are perfection. I genuinely love every single one she sends us. We feel like we have gained a friend. Thank you so much Sharlie for capturing the best day of our lives!”
Over the years, I’ve come to believe a few things about what really matters when it comes to your celebrating.
The first? Don’t invite someone to your wedding because you feel like you “should”. Your guest list should be full of people you can’t wait to see and hang out with. Next? Don’t fall into the trap of thinking your wedding day will be or should be the best day of your life. It’s too much pressure and stops you from having REAL fun in the moment.
Lastly, do it your way. Celebrate over brunch, or have a midnight ceremony - this is your day! Embrace the trends because you love them, or ditch them entirely. Make choices based on your values, your comfort, and your love story: that will never go out of style.
Of course - I’ve shot dozens of weddings that take place in a church or have religious aspects to the ceremony. I am not religious myself, but will always do everything in my power to honestly and beautifully capture the religious elements of your wedding day when that matters to you or your spouse. Inclusivity and diversity are a priority of mine - and I think culture is a big part of that!
The safety of your wedding photos is really important to me - and I have made intentional choices about my gear, travel, editing process, and storage to ensure your memories are protected. I shoot with a dual-slot camera, which saves each picture I take to separate SD cards. I frequently purchase new SD cards as an extra safety measure and keep used SD cards on my person (at all times) on the drive or flight home from your wedding. Once back in my office, I back up your photos on two separate hard drives - and also ensure your edited galleries are added to secure cloud storage. I will never share your photos to my social media or my website unless you are comfortable with it.
I do! I try to offer flexible payment options to my clients whenever it’s possible. However, my availability books up quickly. I will always require a non-refundable (but transferable) deposit to book your wedding - which protects your date in my calendar.
I am well-connected within the wedding industry, and have a list of reputable and experienced photographers who I trust. In the event of an emergency, one of these photographers would become an associate shooter for me and cover your wedding day. I would then edit their images to ensure it’s as consistent with my work as possible. Regardless of what is happening in my own life, I will never leave you stranded without an incredible photographer on your special day!
You can expect to receive your full wedding gallery from me within 8-10 weeks of your wedding day. I will always communicate with you if this timeline changes. While you wait, you have access to your sneak peek gallery, which I deliver within 48 hours of your celebration!
At the present moment, I don’t offer professional prints to clients - but I have lots of recommendations based on your budget, type of print, and desired turn-around time!
